Bud Shootout Showed Signs

The 2012 Bud Shootout was very expensive for Rick Hendrick but it showed promise. The 88, 24 and 48 showed they will be contenders on Thursday during the Gatorade Duels and Sunday during the Daytona 500.

Dale Jr looked better than he has since he left D.E.I. He looked like the racer who dominated plate tracks with his Red Budweiser 8. He went to the front when he wanted. He went to the lead seemingly at will. He also got scooped up in a wreck that was just wrong place, wrong time but at least he didn’t skid 1000 feet on his top or barrel roll like Jeff Gordon. Kasey Kahne and Jimmie Johnson made it a complete loss for Hendrick when they also wrecked during the Shootout.

Kyle Busch showed some skill and a whole lot of luck when he wrecked like 52 times but somehow still passed Tony Stewart in the last 6 feet of the race to win. It is fitting that the younger, of the whining Busch brothers, is from Vegas because he rolled box cars with a whole lot of luck tonight.

I was excited to see racing again after the Winter break but it would of been a whole lot better if the Diet Mountain Dew car could have stayed out of trouble and won the race. Dale Jr had the moves and the car but he rolled craps tonight.

Lets hope for better luck in the 500 on Sunday.

Other things;

I like Danica Patrick and I think she is good for the sport but if tonight is any indication NASCAR will have us sick of her by Wednesday afternoon. Really Fox? Danica as a NASCAR expert? Last I checked, her and I are tied in total NASCAR wins and I bet I have seen at least twice as many races as she has. Please, please NASCAR let her be like every other racer and not force her down our collective throats.

With about ten laps to go Darrell Waltrip , Larry McReynolds and Mike Joy made me throw up. Sure, some people may think it was the tequila from playing the drinking game, “Every Time They Say, Danica, take a Shot” but we all know I can drink a lot more than that without losing my lunch so I am sure it was those three stooges.

It was at the point when they began to verbally kiss Kurt Busch’s ass. Talking about how great it would be for him to win one.  In case Fox forgot, Kurt didn’t lose his ride with Penske because of a deadly illness. He was fired for being an asshole to his crew and finally Dr. Jerry Punch. You would think the broadcasters would have some loyalty to Punch. It was a classless display by three guys who are usually annoying but usually not disloyal to anyone as nice as Jerry Punch seems to be.

That’s all I got for tonight.

Hail to the Earnhardt Nation!

Bud Shootout Will Tell the Tale

Today is the best!

The Winter is over and NASCAR is back. Yes, I know, we are expecting five inches of snow tonight but I refuse to recognize Winter while stock cars circle a track – any track!

Tonight our beloved number Eighty-Eight, driven by our hero, once again starts a season full of hope. This may be the season with the most potential since Dale Jr’s first season at Hendrick’s.  Tonight is not a points race but the Budweiser Shootout may give us an idea whether last season’s momentum was real or a mirage.

I fully believe with Steve Letarte as Crew Chief for a second full season, the National Guard – Diet Mountain Dew team is going to compete for a cup. If I am right it will start tonight in Daytona. We will easily be able to tell if Junior is going to be a contender. To be thought of as a contender Earnhardt has to win early and often to shut up his critics. Tonight would go a long way in silencing the critics for about half a second.

If Junior flexes his Chevy muscles tonight, Thursday and even sweeps Speed Weeks, similar to 2004, all we will hear is about his mid season slumps. But at least it will be fun watching the talking heads trying to pour rain on our parade. If he doesn’t do well this week, which would shock me, the brainless baffoons at SpeedTV will be delighted and try to tell us last year was a fluke.

Don’t believe them!

Remember these are the same morons who predicted he wouldn’t make last years Chase and called 2011′s seventh place finish in points a disappointment. Believe it or Junior out pointed Jeff Gordon last year and only lost to Jimmie Johnson by 14 points.

I guess what I am trying to say is; If my thoughts are correct enjoy Junior winning tonight but do NOT listen to his critics whatever happens. They love to stir controversy by pissing us (Dale Earnhardt Jr’s fans) off. It’s the way the think they generate ratings.

Lets not fall into that trap this year!

I propose when Larry Mac says Junior can’t win we ignore him. When Jimmy Spencer calls us delusional we don’t respond. When Kyle Petty or any other talking, pony tailed, head insults Dale Jr or his fans, we don’t take the bait.  We don’t Tweet back. We don’t answer on Facebook. We don’t call in to Sirius/XM radio. We don’t acknowledge them on any of their media outlets.

It will be hard to stay silent. They will keep hurling negativity to get our reaction. They will say, we no longer love our guy enough to defend him but that’s okay – we know the truth and so does the money managers of NASCAR, when we light up the cash registers at every track.

We need to only use websites, radio stations and TV channels who respect us as viewers and don’t try to manipulate and characterize us into a mob. We are not ill educated, if we were we would be Kyle Busch fans. We are not unsophisticated, if we were we would be Carl Edwards fans. We are not delusional or we would be Jimmy Spencer Junior fans.

We are a proud and loyal fan base who will follow our driver regardless of wins and losses. We follow him not because of what he does but because of who he is.

He is the grandson of a dirt track legend.

He is the son of the greatest NASCAR driver of them all.

He is the epitome of class and grace under pressure.

He is our driver and nothing will change that fact.

He is Dale Earnhardt Junior and WE are The Earnhardt Nation!

Tonight we will stand as one as Dale Jr takes the green flag and if luck is with us, we will roar like no other fans in any sport when he takes the checkered.

Get ready for a great ride in 2012 it’s three hours to the race and I am getting excited!

How about you?
