I hope your fourth was better than Dale Jr’s second. It is not a secret, Daytona has become one of Earnhardt’s least favorite tracks. He doesn’t like the lovebug style racing. He calls it foolish. I call it ridiculous.
NASCAR is asking us to watch four hours of boring racing for a few minutes of demolition derby. It’s like watching a web cam full of fireman. Watch all day and all you see is washing trucks, cooking dinner and other things, then when the alarm sounds you get to see a few minutes of them risking their lives in exciting action. Daytona should be ashamed to ask Junior to participate.
He goes to a place many of us would fear to tread – where his father died. He takes part in a high speed race. He does this because it’s what Earnhardts do but now NASCAR asks him to do it blind folded. Could they be any crueler? Probably not.
I don’t know the answer to fix restrictor plate racing. Build less speedy speedways maybe? When they repaved the track put less banking into it? Square tires? Whatever the answer – this isn’t it.
I do not want to watch four hours of cooking dinner to see my favorite driver barbequed in a fiery crash – do you?
NASCAR please react and bring Daytona back to it’s glory, before it becomes the laughing stock of racing.
